This villa super reno got some new legs this week!
These ABI Piers are an invention of Nigel Colenso and are perfect for fixing to under slabs on TC3, on flood-prone sites, and provide wriggle room on every type of footing. Much quicker and tidier to pour the foundation if you're not having to align and dodge timber piles protruding out.
The other benefit is that they are easily re-levellable should the foundation settle in a future earthquake.
Some piers were manufactured with a splice plate to allow bearers to butt-join over the pier, but with timber availability being what it is, 4m lengths of 140mm x 45mm were bolted together with offset joins
